WYSIWYG

(What You See Is What You Get) Pronounced "wiz-ee-wig." It refers to displaying text and graphics on screen the same as they will print on paper or display on a Web page. For printing, the results may look very similar on paper, but it is impossible to get a 100% exact representation because screen and printer resolutions do not match. The typical monitor may display 100 dots per inch (dpi), whereas a common desktop printer is capable of 600 dpi. That means the screen produces 10,000 dots per square inch compared to the printer's 360,000.
