Àrîda, Nasîb (1887–1946) poet; born in Hims, Syria. He studied at a Russian school before he emigrated to the U.S.A. (1905). Settling in New York City, he worked as a journalist and was a member of the Pen Bond, a group of noted Arab emigré writers. Offended by American materialism, he longed for his homeland. His poems were collected and published as Al-Arwah, al-Ha'ira, ("Troubled Spirits "), (1946). How to thank TFD for its existence?
