Ötztal Alps (öts`täl), mountain group, in the Tyrol, W Austria, S of the Inn River and extending into northern Italy. It rises to 12,380 ft (3,773 m) in the Wildspitze, the highest peak in the Tyrol. The village of Obergurgl is a skiing resort and a starting point for mountain climbing.
Ötztal Alps part of the Eastern Alps, located in Austria and Italy. The Ötztal Alps extend for approximately 90 km, with their highest peak, the Wildspitze, reaching an elevation of 3,774 m. Located between the valleys of the Inn and Adige rivers, the mountains are composed of granites, gneisses, and slates. Glaciers and névé fields cover approximately 15 percent of the region. Coniferous forests are found on the mountains. In the valleys facing south, up to elevations of 1,300 m there are orchards, vineyards, and potato and rye fields. Want to thank TFD for its existence?
