10/100 adapter An Ethernet network card (NIC) or circuit in a chipset that supports 10Base-T (10 Mbps) and 100Base-T (100 Mbps) access methods. At startup, the card automatically negotiates the speed with the hub, switch or router at the other end. Modern Ethernet adapters are 10/100, and many are 10/100/1000.
