1440p

Also found in: Wikipedia, Hutchinson 0.04 sec.

1440p

Refers to the 2560x1440 "progressive scan" high-definition format for TV sets expected in 2008. It doubles the 720p format in number, but quadruples the number of pixels in the frame. However, until 1440p resolution is captured at the source by a camera, upconverting 720p or 1080i signals to 1440p may be a benefit on only very large TVs. See 720p and 1080p.
