1440p Refers to the next-generation, high-definition digital TV format. Its 2560x1440 resolution has 80% more pixels than a 1920x1080 (1080p) TV. However, until 1440p resolution is captured at the source by a camera, upconverting 720p, 1080i and 1080p signals to 1440p may be of benefit on only very large TVs.
