Hexadecane (HD; Acros), 2,2'-azobisisobutyronitrile (AIBN; Showa), potassium persulfate (KPS; Sigma), sodium dodecyl sulphate (SDS; Acros), polyethylene glycol sorbitan monolaurate (Tween 20; Acros) and cetyltrimethyl ammonium chloride (CTAC; TCI) were used without further purification.
Preliminary studies of the polymeric inhibitor's effectiveness show prolonged front behavior for fronts using the thermal initiator 2,2'-azobisisobutyronitrile with the monomer methyl methacrylate and poly(methyl methacrylate) seeds.
The surfactant was sodium dodecylsulfate (SDS) and the initiators used included potassium persulfate (KPS), 2,2'-azobisisobutyronitrile (AIBN), and benzoyl peroxide (BPO), all supplied from Aldrich and used as received.
