mini-phone connector Also called a 1/8" connector or 3.5 mm connector, it is a plug and socket widely used for all variety of audio and video connections on portable devices. For example, mini-phone jacks are the headphones sockets on smartphones, digital music players and portable DVD players.Sub-mini jacks are a smaller version with a thinner shank (3/32" or 2.5 mm) that have been widely used on cellphones and other compact devices. Mono, Stereo and Headsets Mini and sub-mini connectors are used with two-wire mono cables, three-wire stereo cables and four-wire headset cables.
