Methylenedioxy derivatives of amphetamines, 3,4-methylenedioxyamphetamine (MDA) (3) 3,4-methylenedioxyethylamphetamine (MDEA), and 3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA), constitute a major class of central nervous system stimulants producing well described cardiovascular and behavioral effects (1,2).
The designer drugs 3,4-methylenedioxyamphetamine (MDA) [4] 3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA; ecstasy; adam), and 3,4-methylenedioxyethylamphetamine (MDEA; eve) are recreational drugs that are particularly popular among young people in the so-called "rave scene".
