Athenian League, War of the (357–355 B.C.),

a war fought by members of the Second Athenian League, including Chios, Rhodes, and Byzantium, against Athenian hegemony. The former allies of Athens assembled a fleet of more than 100 triremes and defeated the Athenians in a battle near Embatum. In 355 B.C., Athens was forced to recognize the complete autonomy of the rebelling member city-states and the virtual collapse of the league.
