1080i
Refers to the 1920x1080 "interlaced" HDTV format. The majority of HD cable and satellite TV programs are delivered in 1080i resolution, while other HD programs are broadcast in 720p. The 1080-line formats provide the maximum lines of resolution in the HDTV standard; however, interlaced 1080i delivers an image that is not quite as sharp as progressive 1080p, especially when rendering fast motion. See interlaced, HDTV, 1080p and 720p.
