AIIM

(Association for Information and Image Management International, Silver Spring, MD, www.aiim.org) A membership organization founded in 1943 devoted to creating industry standards and disseminating information about the document management industry. Its Document Management Alliance (DMA) task group has developed a common programming interface for document management systems (see DMA). AIIM dubs itself the ECM association, specializing in enterprise content management. See also AIM.

AIIM International's biannual survey of current and potential end users of enterprise content management (ECM) technologies reveals that 60 percent are still in the early stages of understanding ECM.
The new title is a result of the merger of AIIM's Inform, a monthly that carried information on document imaging using micrographic, magnetic or optical media, and Document World, a European title acquired by AIIM last year.
