Sempron A value line of 32-bit, Pentium-compatible CPU chips from AMD. Introduced in 2004, Sempron replaces the Duron series and competes with Intel's Celerons. The Sempron line is designed to work with old and new motherboards. For example, the Sempron 2800+ and 3000+ are based on the Athlon XP and Socket A, while the Sempron 3100+ is based on the Athlon 64 and Socket 754, but with less cache and without the 64-bit extensions. At the end of 2004, the Mobile Sempron was introduced for laptops. See AMD.Want to thank TFD for its existence?
