X12 Also known as "ANSI X12" and "ASC X12," it is a protocol from the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) for electronic data interchange (EDI). In August 1991, members of the MBA Technology Committee Hazard Insurance Work Group and members of the ANSI ASC X12 Subcommittee for Mortgage Lending formed a coalition with the ASC X12N Property and Casualty Policy Administration Work Group to develop a proposal. Sears switched to an EDI system based on the ANSI ASC X12 standard to provide an up-to-date system with wider transaction ability. |
