Tallgren, Aarne Michaël
Born Feb. 8, 1885, in Ruovesi; died Apr. 13, 1945, in Helsinki. Finnish historian and archaeologist. Member of the Finnish Academy of Science and Letters (1926). Tallgren was a professor at the University of Tartu from 1920 to 1923. In 1923 he became a professor at the University of Helsinki. Tallgren was a specialist on the Bronze Age and the early Iron Age in Eastern Europe. He took part in archaeological excavations in various areas of Russia. From 1926 to 1938 he was editor of Eurasia septentrionalis antigua, a journal published by the Archaeological Society of Finland. REFERENCEEurasia septentrionalis antiqua. Supplementary volume.
