Abdurakhmanova, Dil’bar Guliamovna 

Born May 1, 1936, in Moscow. Soviet conductor. People’s Artist of the USSR (1977). Member of the CPSU since 1965.

In 1960, Abdurakhmanova graduated from the Tashkent Conservatory, where she had studied conducting under M. A. Ashrafi. In 1960 she became a conductor at the Uzbek Theater of Opera and Ballet; she was later appointed principal conductor. Her repertoire includes such operas as Verdi’s Aída and La Traviata and Leoncavallo I Pagliacci and such ballets as Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake, Asaf’ev’s The Fountain of Bakhchisarai, Prokofiev’s Zolushka, Khachaturian’s Spartacus, Adam’s Giselle, Shchedrin’s Carmen Suite (after Bizet), Brovtsyn’s Semurg, and Kozlovskii’s Tanavar. She has made concert appearances abroad.

Abdurakhmanova received the Khamza State Prize of the Uzbek SSR in 1973.
