Location: In Hewitt, off the Warwick Turnpike; access via Route 23 to Union Valley Road into West Milford.
Facilities: Trails, lookout point.
Activities: Hiking, hunting, cross-country skiing.
Special Features: Isolated and untouched, the forest includes marshes and wetlands with several brooks and streams crisscrossing the lower areas. A section of the Appalachian National Scenic Trail (see separate entry in national trails section) passes through the forest, ascending Bearfort Ridge and offering scenic views eastward to Greenwood Lake.
