Abrosimov, Pavel Vasil’evich 

Born Dec. 14 (27), 1900, in Korennaia Pustyn’, now the village of Svoboda, Kursk Oblast; died Mar. 21, 1961, in Moscow. Soviet architect. Member of the CPSU from 1944.

Abrosimov studied at the Leningrad Academy of Arts from 1923 to 1928 with LA. Fomin and V. A. Shchuko. Executive secretary of the Union of Architects of the USSR from 1955 to 1961, he was a member of the executive committee of the International Union of Architects from 1957. Abrosimov codesigned an apartment house on Revolution Square in Leningrad (1928–32), the Soviet Ministry of the Ukrainian SSR in Kiev (1934–38), and the Moscow University skyscraper (1949–53), for which he received the State Prize of the USSR in 1949. He was awarded two orders and various medals.
