Abrskil
Abkhazian epic about the hero and theomachist Abrskil. The hero of the epic is a bearer of good and justice and a fighter for the happiness of the people. According to the legend, he did not worship god; because of this, god ordered the angels to chain him in a cave. Beginning with the 1870’s, several versions of this epic were written down and published in Russian. The best-known transcriptions are those by A. Ioakimov (1873), I. Likhachev (1887), and V. Gartskiia (1892). REFERENCEBgazhba, Kh. S. “Ob, abkhazskom geroicheskom epose.” In Voprosy izucheniia eposa narodov SSSR. Moscow, 1958.Want to thank TFD for its existence?
