Absaliamov, Abdurakhman Safievich
Born Dec. 28,1911, in the village of Staro-Allagulovo, now in Kovylkino Raion, Mordovian ASSR. Soviet Tatar writer. Member of the CPSU since 1943. Absaliamov graduated from the Gorky Institute of Literature in Moscow (1940). In 1941 his collection of short stories The Sun of Happiness was published. Some essays and short stories, the novella White Nights (1947), and the novels Young Eagles (1949) and Gazinur (1953) are devoted to the heroic exploits of Soviet warriors. The novel The Eternal Man (1960) tells of the life and struggles of inmates of the Buchenwald concentration camp. Images of Absaliamov’s contemporaries are created in his novels Unquenchable Fire (1958) and White Flowers (1965). Absaliamov was a deputy to the sixth convocation of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR.
