Philippe-Alain Michaud's Aby Warburg and the Image in Motion (Zone Books) is a fascinating study linking Warburg's theory of the moving image to a history of cinematic vision.
Bredekamp also argues that Albert Einstein, in his discussions in the 1920s with Aby Warburg, refused to see the connection between aesthetics and cosmological assertions.
Recently I have been particularly intrigued by the writings of Aby Warburg, and Georges Didi-Huberman's fascinating book about him, detailing the relation of the Nachleben (afterlife) of antique images to contemporary feminist art.
