Adams, Leason Heberling

Adams, Leason Heberling (1887–1969) geophysicist; born in Cherryvale, Kans. In 1920, he and E. D. Williamson published their invention of a new method of annealing optical glass; Adams gained further reknown for his research in the elastic properties of minerals and rocks at high pressure, especially as related to the composition of the earth. He served as professor of geophysics at the University of California: Los Angeles from 1958 until his retirement in 1965.
