In east-central CO, east of Denver; organized Apr 15, 1901 from Arapahoe County; annexed part of Denver County in 1909. A portion of the county was used to create Broomfield County on November 15, 2001. Name Origin: For Alva Adams (1850-1922), statesman and governor (1887-89; 1897-99; 1905).
