addition polymer [ə′di·shən ′päl·ə·mər]
(organic chemistry) A polymer formed by the chain addition of unsaturated monomer molecules, such as olefins, with one another without the formation of a by-product, as water; examples are polyethylene, polypropylene, and polystyrene.
