Adige

Adige (ä`dējā), second longest river of Italy, c.225 mi (360 km) long, rising in the Tyrolean Alps, N Italy. It flows generally south, past Bolzano, Trent, and Verona, to the Po valley where it turns east to empty into the Adriatic Sea. The Adige is used for irrigation and hydroelectric-power production. Flood-control works protect the valley from sudden floods.

It's actually a layered ricotta cheese cake covered in a green pistachio cream paste, and a ``strudel,'' evidently from the Trentino-Alto Adige region, made with pears and apples, in a red wine sauce.
The latter initiative has received computers and printers through the government of the province of Alto Adige in Italy.
GV is also produced in smaller amounts in Austria's Wien (Vienna), Neusiedersee and Weinviertel wine regions, as well as in Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovenia and Italy's Alto Adige region, whose Veltliners tend to be leaner and more refined than their Austrian counterparts, with a well-expressed mineral quality.
