Adiyaman
a populated site in Turkey south of Malatya. In 1927, 1937–38, and later years, findings from the Upper Paleolithic period were investigated 4.5 km northeast of Adiyaman. These included various stone artifacts (flint, jasper, and, less often, obsidian) which, in the opinion of certain scientists, belong to the Aurignacian culture. Among the findings were scrapers, burins, blunt-edged plates, piercing objects, core tools, some Mousterian forms, and some artifacts apparently belonging to the Neolithic period. Petroglyphs of mountain goats were also discovered in the vicinity of Adiyaman. REFERENCELiubin, V.
