Adzhiev, Anvar Abdulgamidovich
Born Mar. 10, 1914, in the village of Kostek, now in the Khasaviurtov Raion of Dagestan ASSR. Soviet Kumyk poet. Adzhiev was born to a peasant family. In 1934 he published the poetry collection Renewal, about the new mountain life and the new Soviet people. In his collections Aggression (1942) and Sabers (1943), he demonstrated the patriotism of the Dagestan mountaineers in the days of the Great Patriotic War. Adzhiev’s poems, verses, and songs in the collections Happy Mountains (1948), Songs of Happiness (1950), and Let’s Sing and Be Merry (1957) are imbued with the concepts of the struggle for peace, the heroic spirit of labor, and creativity.
