Agapov, Boris Nikolaevich
Born Feb. 7 (19), 1899, in Tiflis. Soviet Russian writer. Agapov began his career as a constructivist poet in the 1920’s but is known as one of the pioneers of the Soviet industrial sketch genre. The scope of socialist construction and the creative labors of Soviet workers and scholars are his themes in such books as Material for the Creation of the World (1933), Technical Stories (1936), Exploits of the Innovators (1950), and About the Past, About Various Things, About the Future (The Great Polymers) (1960). Agapov’s scenarios for documentary films both received the State Prize of the USSR: The Renaissance of Stalingrad (1944) in 1946 and The Day of the Conquering Country (1947) in 1948. He is the author of articles on education and a book of travel reminiscences, Journey to Brussels (1959). Broad generalizations and a poetic treatment of science characterize Agapov’s sketches and scripts. WORKSTy ne odin na svete! (Zametki publitsista). Moscow, 1961.Khudozhnik i nauka. Moscow, 1966.
