Agenda 21

A program run by the United Nations related to sustainable development. It represents a comprehensive blueprint for global action drafted by the 172 governments present at the 1992 Earth Summit organized by the UN in Rio de Janeiro. It is a comprehensive archetype of action to be taken globally, nationally, and locally by organizations of the UN, governments, and major groups in every area in which humans impact the environment. The number 21 refers to the 21st century.
