Aizman, David Iakovlevich 

Born Mar. 14 (26), 1869, in Nikolaev; died Sept. 26, 1922, in Detskoe Selo. Russian writer.

Aizman began publishing in 1901. During the revolution of 1905–07 he joined the realists affiliated with the collections of the Znanie publishing organization. In his stories he portrayed the life of the oppressed Jewish lower classes, the fighters against social injustice. During the years of reaction he wrote the decadent novella Bloody Flood (1908), the fairy tale Radiant God (published in 1914), and other works. Aizman’s best works are characterized by suspenseful action and topical plots.
