urban-type settlement in Shetskii Raion, Karaganda Oblast, Kazakh SSR. Akchatau is located 105 km southeast of the Agadyr’ railroad station, which is on the Karaganda-Mointy line, and has a population of 10,000 (1968). Industries include the extraction of tungsten and molybdenum ore and an ore-concentration factory.
