Ala-Too

 

(Snowy Mountains), a monthly literary arts magazine of the Writers’ Union of the Kirghiz SSR. Publication began in the city of Frunze in 1931. Until 1936 it bore the name Nastuplenie; from 1937–39, Ala-Too; from 1942, Sovietskii Kirghizstan; and since 1956, Ala-Too. Circulation is 29,000 (1968).
