Al’bitskii, Aleksei Andreevich 

Born May 13 (25), 1860; died Jan. 10, 1920. Russian organic chemist, student of A. M. Butlerov and A. M. Zaitsev.

Al’bitskii graduated from the University of St. Petersburg in 1882. He became a professor at the University of Kazan in 1902 and at the University of Kharkov in 1903. Al’bitskii took part in organizing women’s higher education in Kharkov. He established the possibility of converting fatty dioxy-acids to unsaturated acids and developed a convenient method for obtaining anhydrides of higher fatty acids.
