Albumin Tannate

 

an astringent that is a compound of tannin and albumin. Albumin tannate becomes activated upon entering the intestine, where it splits and releases free tannin. The compound is used in powdered form for diarrhea. It is used to treat infectious diseases of the intestine only in combination with antimicrobial agents.
