Alvárez, Alejandro 

Born 1868; died 1960. Chilean jurist, specialist in international law, and diplomat. He graduated from the College Libre des Sciences Politiques in Paris and was a professor of civil and international law at universities in Santiago and Paris. He was a member of the United Nations International Court of Justice from 1946 to 1950. Alvárez wrote works on legal philosophy and civil, international, public, and private law.
