Zograf, Aleksandr Nikolaevich 

Born Feb. 26 (Mar. 10), 1889, in Moscow; died Jan. 17, 1942, in Leningrad. Soviet scholar and numismatist.

In 1912, Zograf began to work in the Museum of Fine Arts in Moscow. In 1922 he became a research associate (and after 1935 the chief) in the numismatics department of the State Hermitage in Leningrad. He was an expert in classical numismatics, in particular that of the northern Black Sea coast. Zograf is the author of the work Classical Coins (in the collection Materialy i issledovaniia po arkheologii SSSR, installment 16, 195if bibliographical information and a list of his works are found there).
