Aleshina-Aleksandrova, Tamara Grigor’evna 

Born June 19, 1928, in Kharkov. Soviet Russian singer (mezzosoprano). People’s Artist of the USSR (1976). Member of the CPSU since 1967.

In 1958, Aleshina-Aleksandrova graduated from the Kharkov Conservatory, where she had studied singing under E. P. Petrova. In the same year she became a soloist with the Moldavian Opera and Ballet Theater. Her roles have included Liubasha in Rimsky-Korsakov’s The Tsar’s Bride, the Countess in Tchaikovsky’s The Queen of Spades, Konchakovna in Borodin’s Prince Igor, and Amneris and Azucena in Verdi’s Aïda and Il Trovatore, respectively. She has sung the title role in Bizet’s Carmen and the parts of the Commissar in Kholminov’s An Optimistic Tragedy and Roksanda in Gershfel’d’s Grozovan. She has also performed abroad.

Aleshina-Aleksandrova has been awarded the Order of the Badge of Honor and various medals.
