Alexander, Grover (Cleveland) (1887–1950) baseball player; born in Elba, Neb. One of baseball's great (righthanded) pitchers, he won 373 games and pitched 90 shutouts during his Hall of Fame career, mostly with the Philadelphia Phillies and Chicago Cubs (1911–30). An epileptic and admitted alcoholic, his life was portrayed in the 1952 film, The Winning Team, starring Ronald Reagan.
