Alexanderson, Ernest (Frederick Werner) (1878–1975) electrical engineer, inventor; born in Uppsala, Sweden. He came to the United States in 1901 and went to work for the General Electric Co. the following year. He invented radio receiving and transmitting systems, and by 1930, had perfected a complete television system. He produced a successful color television receiver in 1955.
