Queen Alexandra Range
a mountain range in the central part of the Transantarctic Mountains in Antarctica. It measures approximately 200 km long. The range constitutes a chain of dome-shaped summits, which rise above the surface of the ice sheet and alternate with summits in the form of conic peaks. Its greatest elevation is 4,530 m (Mount Kirkpatrick). The range was discovered in 1908 by the British antarctic expedition of E. Shackleton and was named in honor of the British queen.
