Bairamov, Ali Bairam Ogly
Born in 1889 in the village of Lagich in Azerbaijan; died Mar. 23, 1920. An active participant in the struggle for the establishment of Soviet power in Azerbaijan. Member of the Communist Party beginning in 1919; before then he had been a left Socialist Revolutionary. Bairamov came from an artisan family. He graduated from the Baku School of Navigation and was the captain of a launch. After the February Revolution of 1917 he was a member of the Baku Soviet and the commander of a Soviet naval vessel. After the capture of Baku by Turkish troops, he carried on illegal work in Gandzha and Baku. In 1919 he was one of the leaders of the Gummet circle and a member of the military-revolutionary staff under the Caucasus Committee of the RCP(Bolshevik) and the military organization of the Baku Committee of the RCP (Bolshevik). At the first congress of the Communist Party of Azerbaijan (February 1920) he was elected a member of the Central Committee of the CP (Bolshevik) of Azerbaijan.
