Allgäu Cattle

    0.01 sec.
Allgäu Cattle

indigenous Bavarian cattle raised in the mountainous areas of the Allgäu region in Germany. Today the pure type of Allgäu cattle has been lost as a consequence of crossing with the Schwyz breed. Allgäu cattle were introduced into Russia in the 19th century and were raised as a pure breed and used for crossbreeding. The crossbreeding of the Allgäu cattle with the indigenous cattle of what was formerly known as Kostroma Province was the beginning of the development of the Kostroma breed.
