Alphameter

    0.01 sec.
Alphameter

an instrument for determining α—the coefficient of the excess amount of air in a combustible mixture which is directed, for example, into a combustion chamber or cylinder of an internal combustion engine. The quantity α is the ratio of the mass of air (in practice, that which is supplied to 1 kg or 1 m3 of fuel) to that mass of air which in theory is minimally necessary for complete combustion of the fuel. The alphameter operates on the principle of a measuring bridge.
