Amanzholov, Kasim Rakhimzhanovich 

Born 1911 in Karkaralinsk Raion, Karaganda Oblast; died Jan. 17, 1955. Soviet Kazakh poet. Member of the CPSU from 1944.

Amanzholov began publishing his work in 1931. His original lyric gift was evident in his poetry anthologies Confession of Life (1938) and Storm (1948), his narrative poems Mysterious Girl (1939), Legend of a Poet’s Death (1944), and Our Dastan (1947), and other works. The poet depicted life in socialist Kazakhstan and the heroism of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War. He introduced the ten-syllable line which is now widely used by Kazakh poets. Amanzholov’s poetry anthologies include Wonderful Child (1949), Poems (1949), and Bright World (1950).
