American Rocket Society
Founded in 1930. In 1933 it devised a liquid fuel rocket engine; upon launching, a rocket with this engine reached an altitude of 76 meters. In 1935 the society constructed a test stand and began regular tests of various rocket engines. In 1939–40 two liquid-fuel rocket engines with regenerative cooling were built. In 1944 a rocket with four nozzles was tested. During the war experimental work was suspended. The American Rocket Society is a large organization devoted to problems of controlled rockets and space flight. It holds yearly meetings which are accompanied by displays of rockets and rocket equipment. Want to thank TFD for its existence?
