Amerikian, Tsolak Keropovich
Born Sept. 23 (Oct. 5), 1887, in Trebizond, Turkey; died 1964. Armenian actor; People’s Artist of the Armenian SSR (1947). In 1909, Amerikian began to appear on the stage in Batumi, and later he worked in theaters in the Ukraine, the Caucasus, and elsewhere. In 1931 he joined the company of the Leninakan Theater. His best roles were Uncle Bagdasar and Manuk Aga (in the plays Uncle Bagdasar and Highly Respected Beggars by Paronian), Elizbarov and Barkhudar (Because of Honor and Namus by Shirvanzade), Zenon (Native Land by Demirchian), Shakh Zeir (Shakhname by Dzhanan), Shylock (The Merchant of Venice by Shakespeare), Wurm (Intrigue and Love by Schiller), and others.
