Ammons, Elias Milton (1860–1925) rancher, public official; born in Macon County, Ga. He went to Colorado and entered the cattle business in 1886. A "Silver Republican" after 1896, he was governor of Colorado (1913–15). He was accused of favoring the mine owners during a coalfield strike in 1913–14. He returned to business enterprises.
