Amphitrite(ămfĭtrī`tē), in Greek mythology, queen of the sea; daughter of Nereus. She was the wife of Poseidon and mother of Triton.
An asteroid with a diameter of about 120 miles (200 kilometers), mean distance from the sun of 2.554 astronomical units, and S-type surface composition.
