Amylenes
also pentenes (C5H10), unsaturated hydrocarbons of the olefin series. All six possible isomers are known: CH3CH2CH2CH = CH2 C2H5CH = CHCH3 (cis and trans) C2H5C(CH3) = CH2 CH3CH = C(CH3)2 (CH3)2CHCH = CH2 The products of cracked gasoline contain a mixture of isomeric amylenes. Industrial amylene boils at temperatures of 39°–40.5°C; its density is 650.9kg/m3. The polymers of amylene are used as lubricating oils, in printer’s ink, and so on.
