Any solid-state device, with or without a driver, capable of bilaterally switching voltages or current.

Perhaps if such dross is missing for some viewers post analogue switch off, then surely a Freeview-light service would be of benefit to all viewers with the implicit concentration of higher quality programming.
AV Festival 08 will run from February 28 until March 8 with the theme of Broadcast to coincide with the on-going analogue switch off in the UK.
Forget the analogue switch off, maybe the Beeb should switch off altogether.
