Anan’ev, Anatolii Andreevich
Born July 18, 1925, in the city of Dzhambul, Kazakh SSR. Soviet Russian writer. Member of the CPSU since 1950. Participant in the Great Patriotic War. Anan’ev graduated from the Kazakh University’s department of philology in 1957. In 1958 he published the book Stories of Vernensk, dealing with the Civil War in the Kazakh steppes. In the novella The Small Covering Force (1959) and especially in the novel The Tanks Are Advancing in Rhomboid Formation (1963), he depicts with much psychological truthfulness the strong morale of Soviet soldiers during the grave days of the Great Patriotic War. The novella The Trumps of the Monk Grigorii (1964) and the book of sketches The Shadow of Jesus (1961) unmask the criminal activities of religious sects. He has been awarded two orders, as well as various medals. WORKSZhernovtsy: Ocherki. Alma-Ata, 1962.Tanki idut rombom. Malyi zaslon. Vernenskie rasskazy. Alma-Ata, 1966.
